1. Privacy at a glance
- No Imp account: Imp’s core features do not require an account.
- On-device processing: the message and chosen emoji are encoded and decoded locally on your device.
- No message server: Imp does not upload or store the content of messages on an Imp-operated server.
- No in-app advertising or cross-app tracking: Imp does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- Sharing is your choice: when you share an emoji through another service, that service’s privacy practices apply.
2. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Imp mobile application (the “App”), the Imp website (the “Site”), and messages you send to Imp Support. “Imp,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of Imp.
3. Information handled by the App
Message content
When you hide or open a message, the text and emoji are processed on your device. We do not receive, collect, or store that content on our servers.
Accounts and identifiers
Imp does not require an Imp account for its core features. The App does not use an Imp-operated account database or collect contact lists, precise location, health information, financial information, or advertising identifiers.
Purchases and Apple services
If you download Imp or make a purchase through the App Store, Apple processes the transaction and related information under Apple’s policies. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple may provide developers with transaction status, aggregated sales information, and diagnostics in accordance with your device and App Store settings.
5. The Site and support communications
Site technical data
The Site does not use its own advertising or analytics cookies. Like most websites, the hosting provider may automatically process limited technical information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and request time to deliver and protect the Site. The Site loads fonts from Google, so your browser may connect to Google and share standard request information such as your IP address.
Support email
If you contact support, we receive the email address and information you provide. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain reasonable records of the request. Please do not send secret messages or other sensitive content.
6. How information is used and disclosed
We use support and limited Site technical information only to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Imp; answer requests; enforce our terms; and comply with law. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Information may be handled by service providers that host the Site or deliver email, subject to their agreements and applicable law. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization. If ownership changes, this policy continues to apply unless you are notified otherwise.
7. Retention and security
Because Imp does not receive App message content, we do not retain it. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain business records, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Hosting providers may retain security logs for their standard operational periods.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no device, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Keep your device protected and share content only with people you trust.
8. Your choices and rights
You can choose not to share an encoded emoji, delete locally stored content through the App or your device controls, and stop using the App. You may also control Apple diagnostics and other privacy options in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information we hold, or to object to certain processing. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us to make a request; we may need to verify it.
Account deletion: Imp does not maintain Imp user accounts for its core features, so there is no Imp account or associated server profile to delete. If a future version adds accounts, this policy and the App will be updated with an account-deletion process before that feature is offered.
9. Children’s privacy
Imp is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to support, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
10. International processing
Site hosting and support providers may process limited information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. App message content remains on your device unless you choose to share it through another service.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Imp changes or legal requirements evolve. We will post the revised policy here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects how the App handles personal information, we will provide additional notice where required.
